Taking time out to ask the question, “who am I?”, is a precious and truly rare opportunity and one that often takes a lot of effort. Thank you for all the work it has taken to get you here.
For all those in your life who can’t do this work with you right now know: this work benefits everyone. Your mother, child, friend and all people struggling to survive around the planet. The cleaner we can be emotionally, the more we can let others be free to show their true selves.
What is involved in the workshop series?
The evening workshop is an opportunity to learn about meditation, the enlightenment technique, chip away at quieting the mind and create a great network of folks interested in personal growth.
What is the benefit of taking a full Retreat?
There is often a lot of work to do to begin to create space in the mind to even contemplate the question Who am I? Working full-time in retreat is the best way to get this work out of the way and receive the reward of a clear mind, grounded body and an open heart.
Who can attend a Retreat or workshop?
You do not need any previous experience in retreat or spiritual work to attend. The work is designed to be accessible for everyone. Participants should be 18 years or older. If there are significant health concerns such as a serious illness, a doctor’s note may be required to ensure you are OK to participate.
Do I need a partner to come?
No. Though the main exercise is done in dyads or pairs, you will have a new partner during every dyad exercise throughout the day. Most people come alone though couples, friends, parents/children are welcome to attend retreats together as long as there are no significant unresolved emotional issues.
What if I already have a practice or am part of a particular belief system?
Intensives are designed to accelerate you on your spiritual path and do not provide any particular belief system. There is a great community of people attending Intensives around the world in support of myriad personal growth practices from prayer to zen meditation.
What will it be like?
This may be the closest you get to being a monk for a few days. We get up early, go to bed late, lovely meals are prepared with plenty of time to eat, walks in silence. The staff are incredibly supportive and do whatever needs doing so that participants can focus 100% on their self-inquiry.
What is Enlightenment?
Enlightenment is awakening to our natural state that our busy mind keeps covered up with story and ideas. Enlightenment is not reserved for the well-behaved or particularly good-looking. In fact, many reading this may have had moments of enlightenment as a child or adult but may have stepped over the experience.
Along the path to being permanently Enlightened, we can wake up on a more momentary basis. This is the type of enlightenment found at these Retreats. Intensives are designed to support you to get a glimpse of the truth. When we understand the difference between the dream and the truth, the reason for having a spiritual practice becomes exponentially more meaningful (and wonderful).
How common is it to have an Enlightenment experience?
During an Enlightenment Intensive about 1/3 of people have such an experience of awakening. This may seem amazing considering individuals meditate for months or years to achieve enlightenment. But, all of us at sometime in our life have had an enlightenment experience. Perhaps it was a deep and obvious experience with lights and fireworks, or perhaps it was a subtle one that you likely skipped over as a child or adult due to due to how natural the absolute truth of who you are happens to be. Have you had a moment like this?
I am having second thoughts, should I still come?
It is common for our mind to throw up obstacles in the weeks and days before attending a workshop or retreat. Few of us take the time to examine ourselves. Tell your mind “thanks” for its attempts at keeping you safe from the imagined dangers of looking within and pack your bags. You will not be disappointed to know who you truly are. It is the most precious gift you can give yourself and the entire world.
What is the food like?
The food is wholesome, lovely, and vegetarian; we feed you plenty. Please let us know ahead of time about any serious allergies to allow time to plan the meals around this. We will do our best to accommodate food sensitivities and special diets.
What if I can’t afford to take the retreat?
I met a woman who held a bake sale to come to an Enlightenment Intensive–it can be done and we can help. There are many ways in which we make the retreats available to those in need including bursaries, discounts and work trades. Contact Theresa to inquire what is available.
Can I cancel once I have given my deposit?
A $150 deposit reserves your spot in the retreat. If there is a waitlist for the retreat you may cancel before the two-week mark and get a full refund. If you cancel within two-weeks of the retreat, your deposit may be applied to another retreat within the next year. The $35 introductory fee for the workshop is non-refundable.
